In order to promote good health among state employees and officials, a new wellness center was opened this week for people who work in the Capitol. The Capitol Wellness Center is a workout facility that will help encourage employees and state officials to maintain their health and stay fit, even while working, because better health among employees can lead to higher productivity.
Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin announced the opening of the new wellness center located in Room B-2. Part of Governor Fallin’s move to promote good health inside the Capitol is to close the Capitol smoking room and open the wellness center in its same place. Governor Fallin noted that, with the wellness center, there will be more employees that are healthier and more productive at work. It will also help reduce healthcare costs.
The 1,900 square-foot center will include workout equipment such as treadmills, stationary bicycles, lockers, weightlifting tools, TVs, and restrooms with showers. It will be open from Monday to Friday, 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
