Due to the damage incurred by so many properties due to the tornados in May, thousands of insurance claims have been pouring in to insurance companies. Filing an insurance claim is one way for residents to obtain financial help to cover the costs of repairs or find a new home. About 88,000 claims amounting to $945 million in payments have been filed by Oklahoma residents to-date as a result of the tornado destruction. Many people, however, are running into issues with their insurance claims and have still not received their money.
To facilitate the filing of insurance claims and to help deal with issues involving insurance claims, a recovery roundup is planned for Central Oklahoma. The Oklahoma Insurance Department will be hosting an event that will give Oklahoma residents and major insurance companies a chance to talk about the underlying issues with the current claims. During the event, representatives of the insurance companies will answer questions from the residents through a question and answer setup. They will also deal with issues about unresolved claims.
